Little Giant Grapplers Dominate Dual Meet at Dubuque

Wabash picked up wins in nine of the ten weight classes on Friday night to earn a 38-4 victory over the University of Dubuque in NCAA Division III wrestling.

Junior Phu Hong (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) opened the meet with a pin at 4:26 into his 125-pound match to put the Little Giants in front 6-0. They would never trail throughout the meet from that point forward.

Freshman Garrett Pino (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence North) earned four points toward the team score with a 13-5 victory over Shawn Brown at 141 pounds. Junior Drew McCoy (Cumberland, IN/New Palestine) followed with a 4-2 win at 149 pounds. Junior Adam Miller (Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights) extended the Little Giants' winning streak to three with a 5-4 win at 157 pounds.

Kevin Meyer (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) gave Wabash a 20-4 lead with a 13-5 victory at 165 pounds. All-American Chris Healy (Jasper, IN/Jasper) recorded his 22nd victory of the season at 174 pounds with a pin at 2:49 against Dubuque's Mike McCue. Freshman Keith Garrard (New Castle, IN/New Castle Chrysler) won his 184-pound match with a pin at the 4:09 mark. Will Clarke (Indianapolis, IN/North Central)  earned a 12-7 win in the 197-pound match against Nicholae Timbs. Senior Marcus Ellison (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) completed the win for the Little Giants with a 6-1 victory at heavyweight.
