Former Wabash QB Signs with afl2 Team

Wabash College record-setting quarterback Jake Knott has been assigned to the Albany Conquest football team in the afl2 indoor football league.

Knott shattered the Wabash College and North Coast Athletic Conference passing marks in his four-year career as the Little Giants' quarterback. He started in all 43 games of his career, throwing for 11,213 yards and 116 touchdowns. He set a school record for single season passing yards in 2002 with 2,954, and broke the school and conference mark for TD throws in a season by throwing 35. He also earned a spot on the 2002 Hewlett-Packard All-American Third Team. He is the only quarterback in Indiana collegiate history to throw for 10,000 yards and 100 touchdowns in his career, and is one of only 16 players in NCAA history to accomplish the feat.

Knott was named the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2001, and repeated as the conference selection in 2002. He was also named to the Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-North Region Third Team in 2002.

"Jake is one of the NCAA's all-time passing leader," said Albany Conquest head coach Steve Matthews. "We need to bring in some first-class quarterbacks for our 2004 season, and signing Jake is a step in the right direction."

Knott will report to the Albany, New York squad in March when the afl2 training camps open. The 2004 season will begin in early April.
