Five Little Giants wrestlers paced Wabash to a 26-18 victory over Elmhurst College on Wednesday night at Chadwick Court. The Little Giants wrestled for the final time at home this season, earning their eighth victory of the season in dual competition.
Trailing after the first two matches, Wabash picked up a win at 141 pounds when freshman Garrett Pino (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence North) pinned Elmhurst's Chris Moody just 1:48 into their match to give the Little Giants six team points. Drew McCoy (JR/Cumberland, IN/New Palestine) snatched another six for Wabash with a forfeit at 149 pounds.
One of the biggest wins for the Little Giants came at 165 pounds. Sophomore Kevin Meyer (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) swept a 15-0 victory against Cortez Watson for five points. A forfeit at 174 pounds gave junior Chris Healy (Jasper, IN/Jasper) his 103rd career win.
The final match of the night saw senior Marcus Ellison (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) secure the victory for the Little Giants with a 12-0 major decision over Desean Farrell.
Wabash will travel to Wheaton, Illinois on Friday, February 6 to participate in the annual Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational.
