The Wabash College tennis team was nearly perfect on Thursday in a 7-0 victory over Whittier College. The Little Giants won all but eight of the 104 games played between the two schools during their match in California.
Constantine Alexander (SR/Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at number one singles for Wabash. Freshman Adrian Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) was one of three Little Giant players to win 6-0, 6-0. Starnes earned his perfect victory at number two singles.
Junior Nathan Cain (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at third singles. Senior Cameron Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at number four singles. Hadi Motiee (SR/Muncie, IN/Burris) picked the final perfect victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles. Freshman Nathan Mullendore (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) earned his first varsity win at Wabash with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at number six singles.
In doubles play Cain and senior Mike Lynch (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) combined for an 8-2 win at number one doubles. Alexander and Cameron Starnes were 8-1 winners at number two doubles. Adrian Starnes and Adam Van Zee (FR/Logansport, IN/Logansport) finished the nearly flawless day for the Little Giants with an 8-0 win at third doubles.
Wabash moves to 7-5 with the win and are 2-1 on its California trip. The Little Giants will conclude their West Coast swing on Saturday against Occidental College before returning to Wabash for the annual Kerry Seward Invitational next weekend.
