Wabash picked up a 5-2 victory in college tennis on Thursday night over in-state opponent Franklin College at the Collett Tennis Center
The Little Giants opened the night with a sweep of the doubles matches. Constantine Alexander (SR/Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) and Cameron Starnes (SR/Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) combined for an 8-6 victory at number one doubles. Cameron’s brother, Adrian Starnes (FR/Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) joined with fellow freshman Adam Van Zee (Logansport, IN/Logansport) to earn an 8-1 win at number two doubles. Senior Hadi Motiee (Muncie, IN/Burris) and Nathan Cain (JR/Columbus, IN/Columbus North) completed the sweep with an 8-2 victory at third doubles.
Alexander won his singles match when his opponent, Bob Harwood, was forced to retire due to an injury. Alexander led the number singles match 6-1, 2-0 when the match was called. Cain picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at number three singles.
Van Zee and Motiee iced the victory for Wabash. Van Zee took a 6-4, 6-0 win at number five singles, while Motiee captured a 6-1, 6-2 win at number six singles.
Wabash moves to 8-6 with the win. The Little Giants will host the annual Kerry Seward Invitational this weekend.
