The story of how China’s Educational Attache Dr. Jiang Bo came to invite Wabash students to study in his native country has a familiar "Wabash network" ring to it.
Senior Director of Admissions Walter Blake had long worked with a Chicago high school counselor to bring prospective students for Wabash visits, and she mentioned the College to Jiang’s son, Han. In the 1970s, Jiang had been in the first wave of Chinese students to attend college in the West, and the attache wanted a similar experience for his son.
Han is now a sophomore and adjusting well to life at Wabash. In November, Dr. Jiang was a special guest speaker at the College for International Studies Week. He invited students to study in China, promising "a warm and friendly people and a diversity in culture—more than 50 different ethnic groups—that will surprise you."
