Feminism is the Topic of This Year's Brigance Forum Lecture

The Speech Department at Wabash College invites you to the 2004 Brigance Forum Lecture given by Bonnie Dow. The lecture will be held on Thursday, April 1 in Korb Classroom in the Fine Arts Center at 8 p.m. Dow’s lecture will be based on her book, Framing Feminism: Women’s Liberation in the News: 1968-1975.

Dow is Associate Professor of Speech Communication at the University of Georgia. She received her B.A. from Baylor University, her M.A. from the University of Kansas, and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Her teaching and research interests include rhetorical criticism, women’s public address, popular culture criticism, and feminist theory and criticism. She has published articles on the rhetoric of the feminist movement and on feminism and mass media in such journals as Quarterly Journal of Speech, Text and Performance Quarterly, Critical Studies in Mass Communication, and Southern Communication Journal. She has also written another book, Prime-Time Feminism: Television, Media Culture, and the Women’s Movement Since 1970.

Her lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow her talk.
