Ruge Named Conference Distance Runner of the Week

Wabash senior Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Distance/Middle Distance Runner of the Week.

Ruge received the honor after finishing second in the 1500 meters and fifth in the 800 meters at Saturday's Gerald England Track and Field Invitational, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. He finished just 34/100th of a second behind Southern Indiana's Douglas Schwartz in the 1500 to take second place.

This is the second time that Ruge has earned the Conference's Distance/Middle Distance Runner Award. He also earned recognition for his efforts at the Wabash Alumni Invitational during the indoor track and field season. Ruge was also part of the sprint medley relay team of Chris Morris (SR/Zionsville, IN/Zionsville), Steve Cottom (JR/Rosedale, IN/Riverton Parke), and Nathan Bates (FR/Ossian, IN/Norwell) that received the award after setting a new record of with a time of 3:36.35 to win the event at the NCAC Relays.
