Engleman Named Indiana Tennis Professional of the Year

Wabash College tennis coach Elana Engleman has been named the Indiana Tennis Professional of the Year by the Midwest Division of the United States Professional Tennis Association.

A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Engleman has been teaching tennis for the past 19 years in Washington, D.C. and Ceseme, Turkey in addition to her work in the Indianapolis, Lafayette, and Crawfordsville areas. She is in her second season as the head coach of the Little Giants. Engleman still competes at the national level in tournaments around the country, as well as hosting various sanctioned junior tournament in Indiana. She is certified through the National Schools Association to teach coaching principles courses to high school coaches. She also works with juniors from 16 area high schools.

Engleman has run the Crawfordsville Parks and Recreation tennis programs the past three years in addition to her work at Wabash. She also works with programs in Lafayette, continuing here work that began as the tennis director at the Lafayette sports Center and as a coach at Central Catholic and Lafayette Harrison High Schools. She still maintains a summer program at Harrison High School.

Engleman is nationally ranked in both singles and doubles play in the 35-and-over Division of the USPTA. She played collegiate tennis at Butler before graduating from Ball State in 1988.
