On-Campus Coordinators

The Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts at Wabash College, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan, is embarking on an intensive study of the impact of liberal arts education on students. The National Study of Liberal Arts Education responds to the growing need for institutions of higher education to provide evidence of the value of a liberal arts education. This gathering brings together representatives from each of four participating campuses to discuss the first phase of the study. The research team will present details about data-collection administration and time lines.

Summary

On September 19-21, 2004, research team members from the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan, ACT, and the Center of Inquiry met with representatives from four institutions that have agreed to participate in the National Study of Liberal Arts Education. Research team members presented comprehensive details of the first phase of the study to on-campus coordinators. Campus teams worked together to put processes in place that would take advantage of each campus setting. This gathering marks the beginning of the implementation of the data collection process. Recruitment and registration of student participants for the first phase of this study is expected to be complete in November 2004.
