Red Pack Picked Seventh in NCAC Preseason Poll

The Wabash College cross country team has been picked to finish seventh in the North Coast Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll.

The Little Giants earned 46 points in the preseason voting, ahead of Earlham (40 points), Wittenberg (18 points), and Hiram (13 points). Allegheny earned first place votes from all 10 NCAC coaches to top the list with 100 points. Kenyon was picked second (87 points), with Denison earning 80 points in third. Ohio Wesleyan (66), Oberlin (62), and Wooster (48) were fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Wabash finished sixth at last year's NCAC Cross Country Championship race. Sophomore Dennis Frazee (Griffith, IN/Calumet) is the top returner from last year's squad, earning a 31st place finish at the meet. Dustin Beck (SO/New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie) took 34th place at the conference meet as a freshman.

The Little Giants open the 2004 season this Saturday with the annual Alumni Cross Country Meet at 9 a.m. The first official meet of the season will be the annual Wabash Hokum Karem on Saturday, September 4.
