Student Engagement

College Student Survey (CSS)

The College Student Survey (CSS) gathers information about time spent in academic and co-curricular student activities at the junior or senior level. (Higher Education Research Institute, 2003).

Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE)

The Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE), is designed to measure faculty perceptions of student engagement in educational practices that are known to be empirically linked with high levels of learning and development. (National Survey of Student Engagement, 2003). This instrument is intended to be used in conjunction with the NSSE to provide an institution-level picture of student engagement.

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is designed to obtain information about the degree of student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. (National Survey of Student Engagement, 2003). NSSE measures levels of engagement for freshmen and seniors. Although change is not measured in the same individual, comparing the average freshman response to the average senior response produces a measurement of engagement during college.

Your First College Year (YFCY)

Your First College Year (YFCY) gathers information about time spent in academic and co-curricular activities for students completing their first year of college (Higher Education Research Institute, 2003).
