Freshman Ben Bly (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence North) finished 39th out of 152 runners in the "Little State" portion of the 2004 Indiana Intercollegiate Cross Country Race, held Friday afternoon at Purdue University. Wabash finished 10th out of 19 teams in the small college division.
Bly ran the 8,000-meter race in 28:11, a 5:41-mile pace. Junior Ethan Paul (Evansville, IN/Reitz Memorial) took 54th place (28:39), while Dustin Beck (New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie) trailed the pair by a few seconds, finishing 58th with a time of 28:45.
Charles Wohlhuter (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville South) rounded out the scoring for Wabash with his 70th-place finish (29:05).
Wabash finished with 281 points. DePauw University won the "Little State" portion of the meet with 45 points. Anderson University was second (62), with Southern Indiana (76), Indiana Wesleyan (159), and the University of Indianapolis (176) rounding out the top-five spots. Tri-State (222) was sixth, with Taylor taking seventh with 234 points. Earlham (240) and Bethel (257) finished just ahead of Wabash.
The Little Giants will take a week off before participating in the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, October 1 at 3 p.m. in South Bend.
