Center of Inquiry/Carnegie: Liberal Arts and the Professions

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has for several years explored the teaching of practical reasoning in a seminar entitled "A Life of the Mind for Practice." Building on this work, the Foundation now joins the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts at Wabash College in a collaboration to explore and bring to public attention the value of practical reasoning in both the teaching of the liberal arts and preparation for the professions. Our aim is to analyze forms of teaching and modes of learning in the professional areas which can serve as catalysts for developing the teaching of practical reasoning in the liberal arts fields.
