Little Giants Picked Fourth In NCAC Hoops Polls

The Wabash College basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the 2004-05 North Coast Athletic Conference preseason coaches and media polls. The polls were announced after the annual NCAC Basketball Media Day conference call, held Thursday afternoon.

Wabash received 64 points in the coaches poll, tying them with Earlham College for fourth place. Wooster received nine of the ten first-place votes to earn the top spot. Wittenberg got the only other first place vote for second, while Ohio Wesleyan was third.

The Little Giants received 165 points in the media poll. Wooster took 21 of 23 first place media votes to finish first in the rankings. Wittenberg was second with two first place votes, with Ohio Wesleyan third.

Wabash was 12-15 last year, 9-7 in NCAC play to finish fourth in the regular season. The Little Giants advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament before losing to Wittenberg.

Starters Nate Bell (SR/Ft. Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran), David Wagner (SR/Belleville, IL/Belleville), and Adonis Joseph (JR/Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka) return along with seven other lettermen from the 2003-04 squad.

Wabash opens the season Friday, November 19 against Robert Morris College in the opening game of the Little Giant Tipoff Tournament at 7 p.m. at Chadwick Court.
