Tankers Take Weekend Win at Wittenberg

The Wabash College swimming and diving team took a 131-110 victory at Wittenberg Friday night.

The Little Giants opened with a victory in the 400 medley relay. Matt Perkins (JR/Indianapolis, IN/Brownsburg), Colin Fahey (SR/Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard), Michael Hewitt (SO/Greenwood, IN/Center Grove), and Michael Belanger (FR/Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) touched first in 3:49.16 to put Wabash in front 11-6. The Little Giants would not trail in the meet. Senior Ben Hewitt (Greenwood, IN/Center Grove) made certain of that with a win in the 1000 free (10:38.97). Belanger followed with a victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.38.

Michael Hewitt added a top finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.77). Perkins was the winner in the 100 free (50.55), as was Brad Williams (SR/Columbus, IN/Columbus North) in the 200 backstroke (2:06.68).

Belanger picked up his second individual first place finish with a win in the 500 freestyle, touching first in 5:01.86. Ben Hewitt took his second top spot, this time in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:20.08.

The Little Giants closed the meet with a relay victory in the 400 free. Perkins, Williams, Fahey, and Kyle Weaver (SO/Portland, IN/Jay County) finished in 3:24.67.
