The Wabash basketball team was held to 35 points, hitting only 12-of-45 from the field on the way to a 58-35 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the second game of the 14th Pete Thorn Invitational Friday night at Chadwick Court.
The Little Giants scored four baskets in the second half after trailing by only ten points at the halftime break. Senior Doug Ross (Littleton, CO/Highlands Ranch) was the only Wabash player with a hot hand, connecting on all four of his shot attempts from the field to score a career-best nine points while leading the Little Giants in scoring.
Wabash cut the Pioneers' lead to eight pointw with 15:36 showing on the second half game clock before Platteville put the Little Giants away with a 12-4 run over the next seven minutes to move in front 48-30. Wabash would scored its last basket from the field on a jumper by Kyle Medeiros (JR/Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) with 7:25 left in the game, picking up only one more point from the free throw line down the stretch.
The Little Giants play previously undefeated Wheaton College in the consolation game at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Chadwick Court. Wheaton lost 70-67 to Marian College of Indianapolis in the first game Friday night.
