Tennis Falls To Wartburg 5-2, Swept by Indy

The Wabash tennis team started its four-match spring break competition at home Wednesday morning, losing 5-2 to Wartburg College.

The lone victories in singles play came for the Little Giants came from Brett Bishop (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) at number four singles and Nate Mullendore (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) at the fifth spot. Bishop took a 7-5, 6-3 win, while Mullendore captured a straight sets victory (6-4, 6-3).

The double pairing of Bishop and Dan Petrie (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) improved to 5-0 for the season with an 8-5 win at number three doubles. Wartburg took the other two doubles matches to earn the team point.

The University of Indianapolis swept the Little Giants in the second match, not allowing Wabash to capture a single set. Bishop and Petrie lost their first doubles match of the season, falling 8-4 at number two doubles.

Wabash (2-8) will play Alma and Hope in two matches beginning at noon Saturday at the Collett Tennis Center.
