Thiry Named NCBWA Honorable Mention Pitcher of the Week

Junior starting pitcher John Thiry (Grand Rapids, MI/Grand Rapids Christian) has been named Honorable Mention Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation.

Thiry earned the honor after pitching a complete game against Earlham, giving up only one hit to the Quakers' leadoff hitter. He retired 21 of the next 25 batters he faced, striking out seven to tie his season-best mark. He lowered his ERA to 1.95 while earning his third win of the season.

He is fifth in the North Coast Athletic Conference in ERA and second in innings pitched (27.2). He was named the NCAC Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Earlham.
