Little Giants Third at Edmonds Track and Field Invitational

Wabash finished third out of five teams at Saturday's Gene and Rose Edmonds Track and Field Invitational at St. Joseph's College.

The Little Giants scored 85.50 team points. Saginaw Valley won the men's meet with 200 points. St. Joseph's was second (168.50). Wabash edged Ferris State (84 points) in the final team standings.

Freshman Mike Russell (Terre Haute, IN/Terre Haute North) won the 100-meter dash with a meet and stadium record time of 10.74 for the Little Giants' only individual championship. Russell was second in the third in the long jump with a leap of 6.85 meters. He also added third place finishes in the high jump (5-10) and the 200-meter dash (23.85).

Keith Clayton (Colorado Springs, CO/Fountain Valley School) was second in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing the race with a time of 59.04. Nelson Barre (Highland Ranch, CO/J.K. Mullen HS--Colorado College) added a second place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12-06.
