Junior Elliot Vice (Ladoga, IN/Southmont) fired a second-round 70 on the way to a two-day total 147 and a tie for third in the individual scoring at the Big Blue Golf Classic, hosted by Millikin University. The Little Giants shot a 611 in the team scoring to finish sixth out of 25 teams.
Vice’s 70 was the second-lowest score of the second round at Hickory Point Golf Course, tied with Millikin medalist Josh Mulligan. Only Millikin’s Corey Choate shot a better round, scoring a four-under par 68. Vice finished with a two-day total of 147 after shooting 77 on the first day at Scovill Golf Course, ending up just five stroke back of the winners. He was five-under after nine holes on Saturday before finishing with his lowest career score and the first under-par round for the Little Giants this season.
Freshman Clay Koehler (West Lafayette, IN/Harrison) tied for 21st out of 123 total golfers with a two-round total of 152 (76-76). Aaron Selby (Crawfordsville, IN/Southmont) shot a 156 (80-76) to finish in a tie for 35th place. Kevin Casey (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) tied for 43rd (79-79—158), while J.P. Manaolo (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) tied for 73rd (84-77—161).
The Little Giants trimmed 13 strokes off their first round score of 312, shooting a 299 in the final round. Wabash will play in the Strimer Classic on Saturday and Sunday in an event hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
