Tennis Team Finishes Season With Split at OWU

The Wabash tennis team ended the 2005 season on an upswing with a 4-2 victory over Capital University at Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants opened the day with a 7-0 loss the host Battling Bishops in North Coast Athletic Conference Western Division action.

Adrian Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) was a 6-1, 7-5 winner at number three singles against Capital’s Jerod Wagner in the final match of the year. Josh Paul (Bloomington, IN/Bloomington North) took a 6-3, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Nate Mullendore (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) finished singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the sixth flight.

Senior Nathan Cain (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) closed out his career by combining with Starnes for a 9-7 win at second doubles. The duo picked up the only victory in the earlier match against Ohio Wesleyan, taking an 8-6 win in the second doubles flight against OWU.

Dan Petrie (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) and Brett Bishop (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) took an 8-2 win at number three doubles to secure the victory for the Little Giants.

Wabash finished the season with a record of 5-18, 0-4 against NCAC West opponents.
