Wabash Vs. Franklin Baseball Game Moved to Victory Field

Wabash College and Franklin College have announced the baseball game between the two schools originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 24 at Franklin College, has been moved to Victory Field in Indianapolis, IN. The date of the game has also been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday, April 25. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

“This is an opportunity to showcase Division III baseball in one of the truly outstanding ballparks in the country,” said Wabash head baseball coach Tom Flynn. “Our players are excited about playing at Victory Field. This will certainly be one of the highlights of the season, to stand at home plate before the game, look out over the skyline of Indianapolis, and take in the atmosphere of the event.”

Tickets for the game will be $4 for adults and students.

Wabash College athletic teams are no stranger to Indianapolis sports arenas. The Little Giant football team has played in the RCA Dome three times, first in 1984 then again in 1986 and 1990. The swimming and diving team hosts the annual Wabash Invitational at the IU Natatorium, home of the US Olympic swimming and diving trials.

Four Wabash College baseball players are also no strangers to Victory Field. Josh Bronaugh, Alex Blue, and Jeremy Priest were all members of the North Montgomery High School baseball team that played for the state championship title last season. North Montgomery lost to Taylor High School in the Class 2A State Championship Game at Victory Field in June, 2000. Wabash pitcher Marc Rowe was a part of the McCutcheon High School 1999 Class 4-A State Championship team that won the state title at Victory Field.

Victory Field opened in downtown Indianapolis in 1997 and is the home of the 2000 Triple-A World Series champion Indianapolis Indians.
