Wabash wrestler Chris Healy '05 was selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V At-Large Second Team Tuesday. The Academic All-District V teams are selected by sports information directors from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.
The Jasper, Indiana native and chemistry major was the first Wabash wrestler to earn All-American honors twice on the wrestling mats. His second place finish at this year's NCAA Division III National Championship meet was the highest finish for a Little Giant wrestler. Healy took eighth place for a spot on the All-America team as a sophomore.
Healy finished his Wabash career with a record 159 victories. He was 45-2 as a senior and set the record for single-season victories as a sophomore with 48 wins. Healy was a three-time Scholar All-American as named by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Earlier this year Healy was named the Pete Vaughan Most Valuable Athlete by the Wabash athletics department. Healy was named the 2004 Little State Wrestler of the Year and the 2005 NCAA Midwest Region Most Oustanding Wrestler.
