Black Studies Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is an expansion of the "Black Studies" monocular of the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies. That is, participants will create a program of study designed to equip students with the intellectual skill-set for researching the African American experience, familiarity with the major problems in African American scholarship, and a critical appreciation of African American cultural productions. Building on the strength of existing course offerings, faculty and curricular structure, participants will craft an academic program of black studies at Wabash College.

The goal of the workshop is to produce a blueprint for black studies at the college. A black studies program will enhance an already strong liberal arts education by offering students a sustained treatment of doings and strivings of African Americans.
