Harriers Have Strong Showing with Fifth at GLCA Cross Country Championships

Four Wabash runners finished in the top-25 to pace the Little Giants to a fifth place finish at Saturday's Great Lakes Colleges Association Men's Cross Country Championships. The event, hosted by Albion College, was run at Turkeyville School in Marshall, Michigan.

The Little Giants scored a total of 120 points. Albion won the meet with 47 points. Ohio Wesleyan was second with 81 points. Oberlin took third place (86), while Denison was fourth (95). Kenyon (135), Earlham (167), and Kalamazoo (181) rounded out the team scoring.

Dennis Frazee (JR/Griffith, IN/Calumet) led Wabash with a ninth place finish in the individual results, finishing with a time of 27:23. Three other Wabash runners broke the 28-minute mark. Sophomore Ben Bly (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence North) was 17th with a time of 27:47. Dustin Beck (JR/New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie) took 23rd place (27:57), narrowly edging teammate Sam Compton-Craig (FR/Tipton, IN/Tipton) in 24th (27:58).

"We ran well overall, but we have got to narrow the gap between first and fifth," said head coach Rob Johnson. "I'm pleased with the effort. But to score well as a team, we've got to close things up a bit more."

Wabash will participate in the Indiana Intercollegiates this Friday at Indiana University in Bloomington. The men's race begins at 5:15 p.m.
