Wabash sophomore midfielder Gary Simkus (Highland, IN/Highland) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending September 10.
Simkus, the leading scorer for the Little Giants through five games with four goals, scored twice in Wabash's 2-1 victory over Benedictine in the first match of the 16th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic at Centre College. The win was the first of the season for the Little Giants.
Simkus scored his first goal against Benedictine with 33 minutes left in the first period on a header in front of the net. His second goal came with less than six minutes remaining in the match for the game-winner.
Simkus leads the Little Giants in goals (four), points (nine), total shots (15), and shot on goal (eight).
