Wabash lost 2-1 in the final match of the 16th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic to the host school, Centre College, on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Michael Hutchins (Portage, IN/Portage) scored the only goal for the Little Giants in the 50th minute to even the match at 1-1. But a goal by Centre's Pete Millon in the 60th minute proved to be the game winning shot.
Senior goalkeeper Will McAdams (Carmel, IN/Carmel) made eight saves in the loss.
"We got beat by a very good team," said head coach Vernon Mummert. "We were competitive, but we have to find to a way to get out in front early and play with a lead."
Wabash (1-4) will play Millikin College at home Thursday afternoon at Mud Hollow Field at 4 p.m. before traveling to Kenyon College Saturday afternoon in the opening match of the North Coast Athletic Conference season.
