Wabash senior quarterback Russ Harbaugh (Evansville, IN/Bosse) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Football Player of the Week for the period ending September 17.
Harbaugh earned the honor after throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns in the Little Giants' 23-7 victory at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri Saturday afternoon. Harbaugh moved into fourth place on the Wabash all-time passing list with his weekend effort, passing Brett Butler '90 and Dave Harvey '78. Harbaugh has thrown for 4,182 yards in his career.
Harbaugh completed 18-of-33 passes against the Bears, throwing a 56-yard TD pass to Mike Russell (Terre Haute, IN/North Vigo) in the first quarter. After scrambling for 21 yards to move the football to the 11-yard line late in the second quarter, he connected with Ray Green (Phoenix, AZ/Trevor G. Browne) for a second touchdown pass. His final scoring strike came on a 31-yard TD pass to Geoff Walker (Schererville, IN/Lake Central).
Harbaugh has led the Little Giants to a 2-0 record this season in two starts at quarterback.
