Second Overtime Send Wabash to 2-1 Loss To Wooster

Wabash saw its opportunity to stay undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference soccer action slip away in the second overtime Saturday afternoon when Wooster’s Brian Conaway scored the game winner in a 2-1 contest at Mud Hollow Field.

The Little Giants (4-7, 2-1 NCAC) fell behind 1-0 on a goal by the Scots’ Tim Presto before tying the match five minutes later. Justin Herd (Indianapolis, IN/Syracuse Univ. & Miami Univ.) lifted a corner kick into the goal box where Ryan Leagre (Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) blasted the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the year.

Neither team would add to the scoreboard in the second half or the first overtime. The Little Giant managed the only shot on goal in the first extra period, but Wooster goalkeeper David Treleven kept it from going in to preserve the tie.

Conaway’s game-winning goal came with eight minutes left in the final extra period.

Will McAdams (Carmel, IN/Carmel) made three saves on five shots on goal in the match. The Little Giants peppered the net with 18 shots and eight shots on goal compared to eight total shots for the Scots.

Wabash returns to action Wednesday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. non-conference contest at Anderson University.
