A good crowd made the trip to Ohio Wesleyan University for a key North Coast Athletic Conference match-up between the Ohio Wesleyan Bishops and our Little Giants.
Wabash head football coach Chris Creighton considered this game one of the most important games of the season stating that OWU looked to be very good on both sides of the football. OWU’s strong defense and unusual offense makes game planning a challenge for all their opponents. As it turned out, the Little Giant defense was again stellar and completely shut down the OWU offense until the 4th quarter.
Alumni, parents, and friends were treated to a beautiful day for tailgating and the game. The tailgating theme was "Western" and the featured menu choices were barbequed brisket, chicken, and "cowboy beans". Oh, and 47 different kinds of dessert! As you can see from the accompanying photo album, some of the Wabash fans really got into the Western theme.
Some Ohio alumni attended the game: Bill Catus ’77 from Columbus, OH, Duane Hile ’67 and Don Wagner ’82 from the Cleveland area, and Eriks Janelsins ’02 from Wheeling, WV.
Many thanks go to all the football parents who make the tailgate a success. Also, special thanks to Brenda DeWitt and Dennis Wall at OWU – it was OWU's Homecoming weekend but they still found the time to take great care of the Wabash fans.
The next away game and tailgate will be at the College of Wooster on October 15, 2005 - see the related story on the web site.
