Red Pack Opens Season with Alumni Meet

The 2001 cross country season opened on Saturday as 11 Wabash alumni and family ran with the Little Giant team in the annual Alumni Cross Country Meet.

Senior Jared Smit (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) was first across the line with a time of 19:52.21. Junior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) was second, finishing in 20:37.15. Sophomore Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) took third place (21:14.12).

Matt Zopel ’99 was the top finisher for the alumni, taking fourth place with a time of 21:25.
