Red Pack Fourth at Indiana Intercollegiates

The Wabash cross country team took fourth place in the Little State Division of the 2001 Indiana Intercollegiate Championships held Monday at Purdue University.

The Red Pack was fourth out of 12 Little State teams and was eighth out of 17 teams overall.

Jared Smit (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) finished fifth in the Little State individual results with a time of 24:30.2, fast enough to finish 10th in the overall field of 137 runners. Junior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) was 17th with a time of 25:25.3. Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) took 18th (25:27.7), Dan Sweet (West Bloomfield, MI/Culver Military Academy) was 31st (26:10.1), and Brandon Shipp (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) was 55th (27:24.6).

Wabash will run at North Montgomery High School on Friday, September 21, at 4:30 p.m. in the first Wabash Invitational.
