The Wabash wrestling team battled the University of Chicago Wednesday night on the mats of the Ratner Athletics Center, losing 24-18.
Eric Slabaugh picked up a 5-2 victory at 125 pounds over Ben Hart. Garrett Pino recorded the only pin of the evening for the Little Giants, sticking Brandon Tillman to the mat 2:36 into their 133-pound match.
Freshman Stephen Mosier was an 11-8 winner over Spencer Burns at 157 pounds. Keith Garrard added an 11-4 victory at 197 pounds to the Wabash team totals. Garrett Theil was also an individual winner, defeating Tom Nero 10-4 at heavyweight.
The Little Giants will participate in the Indiana Little State Championships this Friday and Saturday at Rose-Hulman. Friday's opening rounds begin at noon, with the Saturday action slated to begin at 9 a.m.
