Graham Adds National Cut Time to Successful Miami Invitational Weekend

Freshman Brent Graham (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) reached the NCAA "B" cut qualifying time in the 400 individual medley at the Miami University Invitational over the weekend.

Graham exceeded the "B" cut time, which places his name on the list of possible qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Championship Meet this spring, by finishing in 4:08.51 in the 400 IM. His time came while swimming against some of the top Division III and Division I swimmers in the nation at three-day meet in Miami, Ohio. Graham’s time was also just one second off of the Wabash record of 4:07.57 set by Grant Comer ’97 at the 1996 NCAA Championships.

Earlier in the meet sophomore Michael Belanger (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) set the Wabash record in the mile with a time of 16:36.60. Belanger also recorded a 4:53.50 in the 500 freestyle.

Wabash sent only six swimmers to the meet while the rest of the team participated in the DePauw Invitational, finishing fourth at that event. The six Little Giants scored a total of 171 points at the Miami meet, facing teams such as 26-time national champion Kenyon College, along with Denison University, the University of Cincinnati, Emory University, and the University of Denver. A total of ten teams participated in the invitational.
