Harbaugh, US Teammates Claim 53-15 Win over Mexico in 2005 Aztec Bowl

Wabash quarterback Russ Harbaugh joined with 46 other Division III all-stars to help the United States team to a 53-17 victory over the Mexican Tres Colores team in the 2005 Aztec Bowl.

Ohio Northern University defensive back Wes Hostetler was the Player of the Game, recording over 200 yards of total offense on kickoff, punt, and interception returns.

The US team kept the ball on the ground for most of the game. Harbaugh finished the contest just 1-of-8 passing for 34 yards with one interception. Earlier in the week he was selected as one of four team captains for the squad and was named the starting quarterback.

Harbaugh was one of 46 NCAA Division III seniors from around the country to make up this year's team. The Aztec Bowl is the traditional season-ending game for Mexico's college football season. The game has been played 34 times since 1947 with the last nine contests featuring the United States vs. Mexico match-up. The US team is now 8-1 in the series.

Harbaugh is the third Wabash player to participate in the Aztec Bowl game. Former defensive standout BJ Hammer '01 played in the 2000 contest. H-back Jamie Bowers '99 was a member of the 1998 US Aztec Bowl team.
