Wabash finished second out of eight teams at the Eastern Ohio Wrestling Duals, held Sunday at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.
The Little Giants opened with a 26-17 win over Muskingum in the first round, then moved on to round three after a 21-17 victory over Grand Valley State. Olivet handed Wabash its only loss on the way to winning the team title of the dual-format tournament with a 30-9 result over the Little Giants.
Garrett Pino went 3-0 for the weekend at 133 pounds, dominating the competition. Pino started with a 12-4 major decision in the first round, then pinned his next opponent at the 2:59 mark of the match. He added one more pin 1:03 into the final match.
Eric Slabaugh was also undefeated, posting a 3-0 record at 125 pounds. After earning a forfeit in the first round against Muskingum Slabaugh picked up a 5-2 win in round two, then scored a 6-2 victory in the match of the day.
Keith Garrard and Joe Seger finished 2-1 in their respective weight classes. Garrard recorded a major decision with a 9-0 victory in the first match at 197 pounds, followed by a tough 5-4 win in the second round. His only loss of the day came in a 8-4 decision in round three. Seger picked up a 9-4 win in the 184-pound opener, then recorded a 5-4 win in round two before falling 8-5 in the final round.
Steve Kasten was a 3-0 winner in his only bout of the weekend at 285 pounds.
Wabash returns to the mats January 6-7 for the Midwest Invitational at the University of Indianapolis.
