Stanton led the Little Giants defensively in Saturday's 35-7 Homecoming victory with a game-high 7.5 tackles, including five solo stops. He had a career-high 3.5 sacks for 33 yards, a career-best four tackles for losses totaling 34 yards, and forced two fumbles. He also recorded his second fumble recovery of the season. His first came last weekend against Oberlin College, a 23-yard recovery and run for his first career touchdown.
This is the second NCAC Player of the Week Award for Stanton. He was named the NCAC Baseball Player of the Week in March, 2001 as the starting third basemen for the Little Giant baseball team.
Stanton is the son of Pat and Dale Stanton of Mooresville.
