The Wabash tennis team fell in two matches to Oberlin College and the College of Wooster in Ohio Saturday. The Little Giants lost 5-2 to the Yeomen in the opener before losing 6-1 in the afternoon match against Wooster.
The Little Giants got off to a good start by taking two of three matches in doubles play against Oberlin to secure the team point. Jay Horrey and Adam Van Zee defeateed Chris Pray and David Cotter 8-5 in first singles, while Paul Prosinski and Daniel Petrie combined for a 9-8 (15-13) win at third singles. Horrey kept the streak going with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win in the first flight of singles play. Oberlin responded, however, with five consecutive wins in the final matches to take the 5-2 victory.
Horrey was the only winner for the Little Giants against Wooster. The freshman defeated 2005 North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year Will Morrison in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to record the only victory for Wabash while notching his seventh win of the season.
Wabash (3-4) returns to the courts next weekend with matches against Hope and Alma in Holland, Michigan.
