Dear Procrastinator,

The answer is, like many questions relating to the job search, it depends.  It depends on the person you're sending the note to and the type of organization and organizational culture they represent.  It also depends on timing.  If you're sending the thank you to a younger person at a technical or fast-paced, less buttoned-down type of organization, email is probably fine.  Subject Line: Thank You.  If you're sending it to an older person or to an organization with a more straight-laced
culture, I'd go with the handwritten note.  Use a blank thank you card.  Regarding timing, if you leave the interview knowing they will be making a decision in the next day or two, you may be forced to use email since you may not have time to send something through the mail.  In my personal search, I always try to go the handwritten route.  It shows more initiative and seems more thoughtful.

Regardless, you want to mirror the culture of the organization and by all means, always send a thank you.
