Football Team Prepares for Panama Trip

Wabash fooball players received their immunization shots Wednesday afternoon, the first stage of their upcoming May trip to the country of Panama.

Over 30 players have signed up to spend nine days in Panama. The players will spend three days working on a community service project in a village in the jungle of the Central American country. A youth football clinic and trip to the Panama Canal will lead up to a game between the Little Giants and the Panama National Senior Team Saturday, May 20 at Balboa Stadium.

During the trip History Professor Rick Warner will also provide information regarding the area and serve as instructor for the group.

This is the second foreign trip for the Wabash football team. The Little Giants traveled to Austria and Germany in 2003. The NCAA permits teams to travel once every three years. The trip to Panama is being put together by Global Football, the same group that organized the 2003 trip to Austria.
