Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics Chad Westphal received part of a National Science Foundation Grant—in collaboration with researchers at Purdue University—to study computational mathematics for fluid and solid mechanics applications. The three-year project aims to develop and analyze new ways to efficiently solve mathematical models that predict how fluids flow and solids deform under applied forces.
