Professor of English Tom Campbell delivered "Eastern Noh and Western Liturgy: Two Kinds of Musical Ritual Drama" at the 12th Annual Japan Studies Association Meeting, Honolulu, Hawaii, held in January 2006.
As part of his ongoing study about the Noh drama in relation to other musical, ritual forms, Campbell will be studying Noh performance at the American Noh Training Project, Bloomsburg, PA, July 17-August 4, 2006. At that workshop he will be learning chant, movement, and instrumentation related to Noh drama. He spent last spring in Tokyo studying (and viewing) Noh drama with the leader of the Training Project, Professor Richard Emmert.
