Wabash Takes Third at Edmunds Track and Field Invite

First place finishes by sophomore Geoff Lambert and the Wabash 4 X 400-meter relay team propelled the Little Giants to third place at the Gene and Rose Edmunds Track and Field Invitational at St. Joseph’s College.

Lambert took first place in the 400-meter dash, winning the race with a time of 50.28. The Little Giants won the 4 X 400 with a time of 3:26.83.

Wabash added a third place finish in the 4 X 100-meter relay (44.85) in addition to six individual top-five finishes. Tim Rickard was third in the 400-meter hurdles (58.65). Bart Banach and Mike Russell tied for fourth in the 100-meter dash. The pair crossed the finish line in their individual heats with a time of 11.58. Banach also took fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.93). Dennis Frazee was fourth in the 5000-meter run (15:48.77), as was Ben Tritle in the shot put (42 feet, 4-1/4 inches).

The Little Giants scored a total of 56 points. Saginaw Valley won the meet with 230 points, followed by St. Joseph’s (146). The University of Indianapolis (52), Ferris State (48), and Marian College (38) completed the team scoring.

Wabash will run at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet at IUPUI on Friday and Saturday.
