Four singles’ victories led the Wabash tennis team to a 4-2 win at Illinois Wesleyan University Thursday evening.
Freshman Jay Horrey improved to 21-6 for the season with a win at number one singles. The New Albany native won the first set 6-3 and held a 2-1 lead in the second set before an injury forced the Titan’s Ryan Stitt to retire from the match.
Adrian Starnes cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at third singles. Sean Clerget won in two sets at fifth singles, taking a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 victory. Nathan Mullendore completed the team win with a 6-4, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
The doubles matches were cancelled due to darkness.
Wabash moves to 8-13 for the season. The Little Giants travel to Richmond, Indiana Saturday for two North Coast Athletic Conference matches against host Earlham College and visiting Ohio Wesleyan.
