Friday, April 21, 2006. Dean for College Advancement Joe Emmick ’92 was recognized by the Western Pennsylvania Association of Wabash College Men (WPAWCM) as their Man of the Year. The reception and dinner took place in the historic Harvard-Yale-Princeton Club in downtown Pittsburgh.
Bob Smith ’66 made the presentation to Dean Emmick. Bob specifically cited Joe’s community-wide leadership in bringing the Campaign for Leadership, the largest in the College’s history, to an incredibly successful conclusion. Bob then presented Joe with a book on Pittsburgh, wrapped, as you might expect, in a "terrible towel." Joe mentioned in his remarks that he’s always been a Steeler fan! Joe finished his remarks by provided the group with an update on the College.
Regional association president Lyndall Huggler ’83 served as the evening’s emcee. John Newport ’67, the area’s alumni admissions volunteer coordinator, also gave an update on the College’s admissions success this year.
Many thanks to the WPAWCM for another great event!
