Little Giant Netters Take Seventh at Conference Finals

Wabash defeated Earlham 4-3 in the final match of the 2006 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament to finish seventh overall.

Wabash lost 4-0 to 16th-ranked Kenyon Saturday, falling to the consolation bracket of the tournament. The Little Giants dropped a 4-2 decision to Oberlin Sunday morning. Josh Paul picked up a straight sets (6-0, 6-3) victory at sixth singles after Wabash won the doubles point. Jay Horrey and Adam Van Zee took an 8-3 win in the first flight of doubles versus Oberlin. Sean Clerget and Adrian Starnes took an 8-6 victory at second doubles. Paul Prosinski and Daniel Petrie completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win in the third flight. The Yeomen earned wins in second, third, fourth, and fifth singles.

Horrey and Van Zee were 8-6 winners over Earlham in the seventh-place match against Earlham to open doubles play. Prosinski and Petrie won the team point after claiming an 8-5 win at third doubles. Horrey earned his 21st victory of the year at first singles with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 victory over Earlham's Scott Miller. Nathan Mullendore came from behind to take a three-set win at fifth singles with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory against Shiro Fukuzawa. Paul captured the final team point with his 6-3, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

Wabash finished the season with an overall record of 10-18.
