If any Wabash professors resort to "What I did on my summer vacation" papers when students return to classes this fall, they’re sure to have some interesting reading.
Wabash’s underclassmen will engage in all sorts of summer internships, shadowing programs, interesting jobs, and boring jobs. Some students will even vacation and relax.
Our second survey of summer plans yields students going all across the country for education and work experiences. Many of the athletes will spend a large portion of their summers working on their various sports. But there is also the interesting, unique, and unusual summer plans as well.
Freshman Andrew Chelton will be in New York working at a weight-loss camp featured on MTV, "True-Life: I’m going to fat camp!" Sophomore Michael Schultz will be playing semi-pro baseball and coaching teenagers. But like many students, he won’t stop there. Schultz will join classmates Ben Thrall and Luke Odom in a pond-building business when he isn’t balling.
Junior Ryan Pritchard has a spot in Chicago at WXRT Radio but will also work with Brent Bridwell ’03 at the famed Second City Night Club.
Many Wabash students have internships, jobs and shadowing opportunities thanks to Wabash alums.
Freshman Ted Zimmer, from New Jersey, will have an internship involving marketing and business law at Voltaix. Matthew Stephens ’91 is the chief operating office for the company. Sophomore Jason Siegel will work with Dr. Todd Rowland ’85 in Bloomington doing bioinformantics research.
