Baseball Quartet Earns All-NCAC Honors

Seniors Jared Bogan and Phil Ramos, along with sophomore Chris Schmaltz and freshman Matt Dodaro, were named to 2006 All-North Coast Athletic Conference team. Bogan and Ramos earned Second Team All-NCAC honors, while Schmaltz and Dodaro were Honorable Mention selections.

Bogan (Struthers, OH/Struthers) earned Second Team honors after leading Wabash in batting average (.413), slugging percentage (.643), and on-base percentage (.449). His 14 doubles not only led the team, but tied his own school record set in 2003. He hit five home runs to tie for team-best honors in that category. Bogan was recently named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team. He also received the Frank Hughs Sparks Award for attitude and contribution to the life of the College. Bogan is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated summa cum laude at Sunday's commencement.

Ramos (Zillah, WA/Zillah) was named to the All-NCAC Second Team as an outfielder. He split time between outfield and first base this season for the Little Giants, hitting .333 for the third-best average on the team. He was second in on-base percentage (.407) after leading the team with 11 walks. Ramos also hit three home runs and was third on the team in RBI's with 20. Ramos also graduated on Sunday afternoon.

Dodaro (St. John, IN/was an Honorable Mention All-NCAC selection after starting 38 games at shortstop for Wabash as a freshman. He was second in batting average (.369) and slugging percentage (.525). He cranked out 45 hits, including 13 doubles. He tied for the team lead in RBI's (23). He had 87 assists and turned 19 double plays at short for the season.

Schmaltz (Greenwood, IN/Roncalli) had five victories on the mound to pace the Wabash pitching staff. The right-hander had a 4.29 ERA over 50-1/3 innings to lead the Little Giants, along with his 5-3 overall record. He allowed only 13 walks while striking out 44. Schmaltz also allowed only 12 extra base hits for the year.
