Wabash students will again head for Ecuador now that that school year has ended. More than 20 Wabash men will have an intensive two weeks of Spanish at Quito, Ecuador, under the direction of Wabash Associate Professor of Spanish Dan Rogers.
The students will be writing about their daily experiences in a blog which will appear on the Wabash website after their arrival in South America. The students depart May 21. (Click here to see photo album from previous Ecuador Program.)
After the two weeks of language training, the group splits into thirds for a specialized experience. Economics Professor Kay Widdows and Political Science Professors Melissa Butler and Phil Mikesell will lead eight students for a two-week period focusing on globalization.
Visiting Professor of Spanish Luis Aguilar-Monsalve will have six students hearing a number of prominent Latin American authors as they study literature.
A third group of eight students will participate with Math Professor J.D. Phillips, art professor Doug Calisch, and Biology instructor Maureen McColgin in field observation. The group will tour different eco-systems and examining the ecology in each spot.
